About Us

Samadhi Retreat Centre (charity number: 1207744) is a UK charity dedicated to improving mental and physical wellbeing through practical and transformative practices such as meditation and mindfulness. Established by Tibetan Buddhist meditation teacher David (Dorje Gyalpo) and co-founder Manu Oromith, Samadhi draws upon both time-honoured contemplative practices and modern, evidence-based approaches to happiness and wellbeing, offering practical tools for stress relief, emotional resilience, and genuine happiness and wellbeing.

What sets Samadhi apart is its vibrant sense of community and commitment to public good: all programmes, whether retreats, classes, or workshops, are about directly helping people from diverse backgrounds—including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities—access life-changing techniques to live happier, healthier lives.

Under the guidance of their Patron, B. Alan Wallace (PhD), Samadhi’s approach is rooted in evidence-based contemplative practices that promote holistic wellbeing without pushing dogma. By investing in education, inclusivity, and the wisdom of ancient Eastern traditions, Samadhi advocates for a fresh path in mental health and wellbeing—where compassion, modern science, and timeless contemplative traditions meet for the benefit of all.

By combining yoga, meditation, and Buddhist-inspired psychology with a focus on social responsibility and environmental awareness, Samadhi offers a forward-thinking, heart-centred model for modern holistic living.
